GARDAÍ ARE ATTENDING the scene of a crash on the M9 North between Kilcullen and Athy.

A lorry collided with a jeep towing livestock this morning.
There is currently a vet on site attending to the animals. It is understood a number of sheep died when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned.
The road is currently closed but one lane is expected to open shortly.

No mention of the drivers so hopefully neither of them hurt.

I hope all concerned are well and healthy after. That is the number 1 concern. Jeeps and lorries start out as chunks of metal and will be recycled to that again.

However this could see checkpoints on jeeps and trailers stepped up and the RSA stepping up to impose further regulation, especially if it turns out the jeep and trailer were in the wrong.
