Waiting Until Christmas For PS4 -Thoughts Please

I got my PS4 @ launch but it was put away for Christmas morning by the powers that be..
For anybody else that is waiting for the 25th what are your thoughts, fears and expectations as we close in on our first days with a PS4?

I know the dodgy PS4 rate is very low, but make sure it works. It'd be fairly annoying for it not to work Christmas morning. At least if you know now, it could be replaced by then!

Picked one up at launch, tested it to make sure all was ok and to get a few big game downloads out of the way. Have it all packed up and ready to go for Christmas.

Just as a matter of interest did you buy online or in store?

If you could set it up before Xmas day and have it ready to go that'd be a good idea. The store could be swamped christmas day too so get your downloading done early if you can.

Bought it in store (Gamestop) and as I have the PS3 retail versions of BF4 and Ghosts , I upgraded them to the PS4 digital versions for €9.99 each (need the PS3 disk to run them).

Downloaded Flower (free as I have the PS3 version) and Resogun also.

Can't wait until I can give the console a good try over Christmas:D

Im loving Killzone. Having good fun online with it.

I know you have your PS4 locked away but I would try my hardest to get it connected to PSN now.
You can get Resogun and Contrast for free

Contrast is a nice change of pace from all the shooter games. Its only a few hours long but its quite unique and fun. Resogun is amazing. Theres a reason its universally the best rated PS4 game.....its great. Got my platinum for it too

Its tough, sometimes frustrating but my god is it rewarding when you beat it on Veteran.

You can always tell your parents (im guessing they have the keys to the kingdom) it will save money as you wont need to buy games and if you dont get them this week there gone........FOREVER

Or you could be a bit less dramatic. Your call.

Also, great point by erkifino. I would lose the plot if I opened my console xmas day and it didnt work. I took a week off work for the PS4 launch and I was having nightmares of that happening

I have the PS4 since launch and it is amazing piece of kit. I also purchased a PS4 for my daughter for Christmas day which I have already checked out and updated. Resogun is amazing as the poster said above, I have BF4 it is very good but some issues need addressing if any of you are into basketball buy NBA2k well worth it a big surprise in my book.

The failure rate on PS4 is very low (overhyped on the internet) so for you people that have it rapped away I would not be to anxious about it.

Good call on NBA2k. I think its the best looking game on the PS4 so far. Also really good to see a smaller studio kicking lumps out of EA.
I dont follow or have interest in basketball but the game is really good. Its a change from football games and as theres no PES on PS4 it will have to do

I feel your pain King Krib. I get dirty looks everytime I power up my machine. If your woman is anyway like mine just introduce her to Candy Crush. Thatll keep her quite (until her lives tun out and she needs you laptop to play it on facebook )

If I took it out to update there's no way it would be going back in. I might update to usb so all I'll have to do is install it. Are we still at 1.52?

Just download it to your PS+ account using the PC store. Will be waiting to download come Christmas Day Handy if you don't have a PS4 yet so you'll have a library of games waiting to go

Plan to pick one up around March, when the next batch of games are coming out.

Assuming 2 free games a month, I'll already have 8 free games by the time I get the machine

Don't assume anything, only one game for PS4 in january.

Don't forget to add the F2P games, Blacklight, Warframe and especially War Thunder to your list.

My list of ps4 games is growing nicely without even owning it :pac:
