    Hi Everyone,

I am meant to be going to Bangkok this Sunday to Thursday night before I fly home to Ireland. I am getting nervous about the riots and protests, can anyone give me any advice on this?

    Anyone there at the moment?

    Cheers

I'm travelling there on the 4th of January.

At the moment, it looks like things are not as hectic. Who's to say that won't go one way or the other in the next few days.

Right now though, the general consensus is - stay out of troubles way, protest sites etc and you should be okay. Regular news updates/checks are probably best.

This is the most recent article I can find on it..

The prime minister called new elections last night for February 2nd so things i think will be calm from here until January, even now the protests are only confined to government areas and not the main tourist places....I'll be there myself next week too and you should keep on eye on the local news reports etc

Jodi Ettenberg put together this Thailand twitter list that pulls from a lot of sources on the ground.

It's become a bit bloated as some of the contributors are no longer in Bangkok but there's still a lot of current stuff there.

In any case, the protests shouldn't affect the average tourist in any way.
