Convert double glaze to Triple glaze

I had my (new build 2005-8)house on the market and was hoping to sell and down size with a far superior house enegry wise. I was going to super insulate the house and have a great heating system with new layout etc.. but now im taking it off the market because of these new regs coming into force next year.

Now with me taking it of the market, im now going to try and get the money to super insulate this house now, and even thou i cant afford to replace all the windows from double to triple glaze, i have 2 patio doors right in the 2 corners of my dining/kitchen that i want to triple glaze seeing as they would be the largest area that would get the most heat loss.I will even consider putting in the triple glazing if my next question is possible.

I would like to know, is it possible to just convert the patio doors from double into triple glaze instead of buying a whole new set of doors. If its not possible, what would be the standard price for a triple patio door say 1800-2000mm wide in white PVC. When i bought my own here in ireland, im near sure i paid 1000 euro per door, how much more would the triple glaze be compared to the double.

IF i do get around to doing this early this year, maybe ill upgrade the heating system next winter and if not, do it the following year.

    1. 'Super insulating' with out changing the windows & doors may be a waste of your time. you have not mentioned air-tightness?
    2. pointless IMO the frames are the weakest part of them
    3. dont know
    4. building fabric before heating system otherwise you dont knwo what the heat demand is

How would it be a waste of time, im sure sticking more insulation in would make the house alot better in keeping heat in.

Whos best to hire to work out whats best for me.
