    Hi there
My car was hit while parked and is it not economical to repair. It is a Ford Focus 1.4.

I am looking to replace it with the same Ford Focus 1.4 Hback - I have been viewing 2004, 2005 and 2006 models on line in Dublin.

Does anyone know if I wait until Jan 2014 will the prices reduce and will this happen in January or later in the year - does anyone know how the car trade works when it comes to the new year.

    Thanks in advance:)

It really won't make much of a difference when you're talking about a car of that age. It only makes a big difference with cars that are a year old.
Buy now or wait a month, I doubt there'll be any change

Sure there's really only 2 weeks left before christmas, you would hardly buy in that short amount of time?

Used car asking prices don't magically drop on Jan 1st. Most dealers will drop the price on them in late November to try and shift them before they take more trade-ins when new car sales start up in January. You might then see more movement on prices in around March or April.

No, there isn't any magic price change over new years.
Second hand cars will be priced on their individual merits.

You could argue though that some people may want more cash on the lead up to Xmas so sell at a good price or after Xmas when people will need to pay their bills so it's hard to say when the best deal is.
If it was me I'd buy in the New Year, mostly because it might take a while to get the Log Book back due to the holidays

on average the longer you wait, of course the price on average will come down, it certainly doesnt go up, but the odd time I have seen cars sell for prices that are well below market rate for these cars, this only usually happens when someone is desperate though. With the kind of cars you are looking at, I wouldnt bother waiting to be honest...

Your better off taken your time to look around i got a 05 focus couple months with a very very good spec. If you take your time your time youll get a good car for the money!! Wont pay more than 5000 for a 05/06 doe depending in spec of course!!

The only benefit I can see of waiting is that there'll be a bigger pool of second hand cars about by mid-January
