Fighter of the Year and Fight of the Year

Mayweather is my fighter of the year, after two easy victories against Guerrero and Canelo. Stevenson would be my next choice. Honourable mentions for Rigo, Bradley, GGG, Kovalev and Garcia. Nobody mention Hopkins.

Off the top of my head for fight of the year, Maidana vs Lopez was great, but there are probably loads more. Rios Alvarado II and Bradley Provodkikov were great too, as was Kirkland Tapia last night.

I think the Mike Perez v Mago Abdusalamov fight a few weeks ago,was up there. It was sad about the outcome with Mago.

An underrated fight that is certainly a Foty candidate in my book is Lara vs Angulo. A brilliant style match-up and hugely entertaining fight.

I'd give Adonis Stevenson fighter of the year.

Perez vs Abdusamalov, Bradley vs Provodnikov & Froch vs Kessler II would be up there for fight of the year

I'd give Stevenson fighter of the year. He dismantled 2 highly rated opponents and then Bellew with considerable ease. He showed he has one punch knockout power and then shown he can also box very well. A perfect year for him.

What I loved about the Maidana Lopez fight (apart from the obvious drama and knockdowns) was the way Maidana won so easily as soon as he realised he was the way better fighter inside and began to pressure Lopez. Was getting his ass kicked when he tried to fight outside and box.

What was the best single victory of the year? Rigo over Donaire has to be up there. A near shut-out of a top P4P fighter.

Has to be FMJ over Canelo for me

I think Rigo over Donaire was better. Donaire was more decorated, more highly rated, and more experienced. Donaire was Foty for 2012 as well and was coming off a very good winning streak. Canelo for me at least had arguably lost to Trout.

It was still a great win for Floyd, not saying it wasnt, but I think I'd just about have Rigo's win ahead of it.

For me, Rigondeaux gets fighter of the year with Stevenson close second.

Provodnikov - Bradley gets fight of the year for pure entertainment value.

Bradley-Provodnikov was insane. One of those fights that you get completely absorbed in.

I haven't got around to watching Figueroa vs Arakawa yet but by all accounts it was a real barnburner and a definite Foty candidate. Rios-Alvarado II and Prov-Alvarado were both excellent as well.

It was a great year for boxing really. We were spoiled with great match-ups.

Great win but Donaire's subsequent poor performance took the sheen off it, suggesting he was not at the elite level we believed.

I thought the Rig0-Donaire fight was a bit of a snoozefest!

Bradley's performance against Ruslan was the performance of the year. Absolute warrior! Not Carl Froch warrior, mind you!

glad to see stevenson getting recognition here...shows knowledgeable posters.....man is a truly great boxer, not just a power puncher.

rigo is my p4p no2 after mayweather...donaire was a great win and rigo is truly great....but donaire wont be his biggest challenge....donaire is great but it was a step too far reaching to rigo...donaire achieved so much and a loss to rigo doesnt cloud that one little bit...he was just reaching too far.

laras weekend win over trout was a great display of boxing skill...trout is no joke and very highly skilled himself...but like al beirnstien rightly said on the night, after initially having the correct tactics trout fell into laras trap by following him around the ring...it took away from what trout could do and it helped lara do what he wanted to do.

best fight i seen this year was a small hall show in belfast....stephen 'block' reynolds vs declan trainor...an absolute war.

Yes, Stevenson is a lovely boxer. Very slick, neat, fast and a very clever fighter.

Could never have Rigo above Ward.

Rigo has one solid win. A win that was impressive, but not spectacular. I am a big fan of his, too!

    Floyd Mayweather jr hands down.

    BWAA nominees:

    Danny Garcia
    Sergey Kovalev
    Floyd Mayweather
    Timothy Bradley
    Gennady Golovkin
    Adonis Stevenson
    Mikey Garcia
    Guillermo Rigondeaux
    Ruslan Provodnikov

Initial list didn't have Stevenson on it and it generated a bit of a backlash. List was then 'expanded' to included Stevenson, Rigo, Mikey, and Ruslan. Stevenson's past a factor in the initial omission perhaps?

I'd advise anyone who hasn't seen it to do so. Excellent non stop action fight! Berto was on that card and lost to Soto Karass in a very good scrap.

Rigo or GGG for Fighter imo. GGG should get it.

Fight? Tough one. Rigo/Donaire stands out as does Bradley/Provodkinov. Hell even last nights fight is a good shout.

Rigo fight may not of been fight of the year but his performance was outstanding, Donaire had outclassed anyone he had stepped into the ring with but Rigo made him look ordinary.
