    Hi guys,
Can anyone help by identifying a sensor for me. Looking into the engine bay from the front of my 05 1.6 MK2 Ghia 115 BHP petrol engine car, to the right of the cylinder block, and mounted on top of the transmission housing, is a plastic disc (about 1''Dia) with a nozzle mounted on it. A hollow black tube about 6'' long and 1/4'' Diameter comes off the nozzle to a box about the size of a matchbox which is simply clipped to the bodywork. I found the tubing split at the end so I repaired it by cutting the damaged bit off. But I have no idea what the box/sensor does as I don't see it in any of the photo's in my Haynes manual. There are no electrical connections to it, but I do wonder if it needs to be clipped back to the metalwork where it was as the tube is now too short to allow me to do this, I have simply used a plastic tie to stop it from rattling around ?

Gearbox breather by the sounds of it wont make any differance where you put it as long as it doesnt foul any moving parts.
