    She'll be fine if the doesn't try to leave Heathrow.

    I'd suggest not posting questions like this on a forum, why not just look up the actual rules and don't take people's word for it, as some people like the previous poster will post information of doubtful value as throwaway comments.

    AS Irish flights leave from domestic sections of the airport, then to pass through Heathrow you have to enter the UK and so need a UK visa.

    I'd suggest flying through another connection point or else get a UK visa, but don't take my word for it either.

    Unless both the incoming and departure flights are within the UK & Ireland, all the procedures for flight transfer/connection in Heathrow include a passport check and the following statement .....

    All passengers arriving on international flights must pass through UK immigration control at Heathrow.

    Example: Arriving to T4 and connecting to a flight to Ireland in T1...

    if your friend already has a flight then its maybe too late, but you can transit in one of the main german airports without a visa so long as you dont leave the international zone.

    there are certain nationalities which still normally require a visa (Russia being ok anyhow) but from what I can see even for these people this is waived should you have a valid visa for an EU country.

    thanks for the links :)...i had a good look at that . she is not on the list of countries requiring a Direct airside transit Visa (DATV) and also seems to fulfill the criteria for 'Transit without visa' Concession (TWOV)listed on that link....the site also says a Visitor in Transit Visa is not required if these TWOV criteria are met..

    'To be considered under this concession you must be transiting and meet the following conditions
    • you must arrive and depart by air;
    • your onward flight must be confirmed, and must depart within 24 hours; and
    • you must have proper documentation for your destination, including a visa if required'
    ill have to ring the embassy to be sure...as i cant find any info about how strict immigration are in heathrow about granting such a concession.

    The danger is that if this isn't clear and usual, the airline may not let her on the plane to London, so make sure that they understand the provision you are using.
