    Hi
got a Nestor Martin Stove (solid fuel) installed by a very competent installer. not lit yet, needs time for setting.. The bayard on top came coated in a grease like substance.. installer told me not to rub it off, but didn't really know what it was for, he said its on all of then and would burn off.... very tempted to rub it off. anyone know what it is for?.. (concerned it will stink until fully burned off)
    thanks
    P

I'd go by your competent installers advice. He knows a lot more about it than either of us.

It's always tempting to do something that we've been told not to do !!
