Question on new PC Build

Just built a new PC using an MSI 990FXA Motherboard.
When booting up can see the screen attached. I have booted with both a logitech USB keyboard and a PS/2 keyboard attached but neither keyboards work on this boot menu.
Any thoughts? I 'll try another USB keyboard when I can get my hands on one.

Link obviously doesn't work - it's the basic boot menu inviting to press "Del" to enter set-up menu or F11 to enter Boot Menu.

In BIOS enable USB legacy mode?

Can't get into BIOS at all - locked on the first boot-up screen. Never got beyond it into config menus.
Screen shows all components are recognised properly, shows keyboard and mouse detected, but keypresses from keyboard are not detected thus stuck on the screen.
I intend to try a few more different keyboard types tomorrow, otherwise considering RMAing motherboard. Any thoughts?

Yes, it's a self build - my son built it - now trying to help him with this issue.

    What is the power supply?

    Ok.

Try Power down the system, then hold down the power button until the system beeps.

It might say fast boot trigger detected would you like to enable fast boot on next boot. And hit n key.

If I keep power button pressed it just powers down again... I.e. goes into normal power up, but then powers down again.

I looked up your problem , I got hits for CPU pins being bent. And power supply.

Just looking to help clarify that it is in fact a faulty motherboard. It's strange that it is picking up the device connected which would suggest the ports are working.

If the power supply is not properly connected it won't power the keyboard just double check. All wires are in correct.

When you used the ps/2 keyboard after the USBfailed did you knock off the pc disconnect the cord leave for a minute then try the start up the pc with it connected?

One thing that I hate about AMD is the cpu pins. I've never had an issue, but it still irritates me, always feel worried. I dropped an old S478 pentium years ago, it slipped out of my fingers, load of the pins on one side were bent, I was gutted. Had to spend a horrible 30 minutes gingerly trying to straighten them up using super fine blades. It worked it the end but it was a horrible experience!

The reason the keyboard and mouse are not working is because the PC is probably locking up on the bios screen rather than they are not working. I assume that as well as the 24 pin motherboard connector you also have the 8 pin connected? That would be the first place to look.

Thanks for all responses - managed to sort out the issue - the motherboard MSI 990FXA-GD65 has problems with 1600MHz RAM - replaced with lower frequency RAM solved the problem - hope MSI will release new firmware to fix.
