MacBook dying I think

    Hi,

I have a 2007 MacBook 2.0ghz 3gb ram 500gb hd. It's freezing really quickly after start up most of the time, not always starting up and being very sticky. I've run ccleaner, avast, onyx, memory clean to no avail. There's 144gb free on the hd. In its life I've had the logic board replaced under warranty, upgraded the ram and hd.

I know it's old but I can't afford a new one. I only want it for web browsing and ms office.

Is there anything I can do? Could it be something in the depths of the os that I need to tidy or is it hardware. How can I know for sure?

    Thanks.

Have you run disk utility and let it check the drive ? Might just be a failing hard disk ?

I have. It said the volume is ok. Did it in both onus and disk utility.

Is there anyway I can be sure what the problem is. If it's a hard drive or memory I will get new parts but if it's the logic board I'll have to get a new one.

I don't know how to interpret the Activity monitor or any of the logs but it still keeps freezing and I have to force restart.

Try running the AHT to see if there is a Hardware issue - set the test to extended..
