Air traffic control restrictions causing major delays

Thousands of passengers have seen their flights delayed by what is believed to be a "technical issue" at southern England's main air traffic control centre in Swanwick, Hampshire.

Gatwick Airport tweeted: "Due to air traffic control systems issues some flights may be delayed. Please check with your airline."

Stansted also used Twitter to update travellers, saying: "A technical issue at Swanwick air traffic control at is currently causing delays to some flights at airports in southern England."

The issue has also affected flights from Ireland and there have been reports of delays at Southampton and Malaga airports.

I'm sitting waiting for a flight that was supposed to leave over an hour ago absolutely no information on how long I'll be delayed. Pain in the bum!

So are any other AHers' plans fecked up because of the delays?

I need to go find ways of entertaining myself, could be here for a while!

I'm reading on the twitters that a huge amount of Leinster supporters are stuck in Dublin en route to the match tonight. Hope the team flew yesterday.

Hopefully everyone gets where they're going. I should have gone to Frankfurt, that flight left on time!
