Is there any chance a 406 coupe will be worth money in the future?

I recently bought a new car and have a 2000 406 coupe 2.0 petrol that is sitting idle. At the moment I reckon it's worth 500 max and even at that it's stretching it. Given that it is a lovely looking coupe and never sold in massive volumes is there a chance it will be desirable in the future when most of them are dead and gone? They are already thin on the ground, very few for sale on websites and only ever see the odd one on the road. That said there are many cars from 2000 that have almost disappeared. But is it the type of car that might have a chance at being desirable in the future in a way the likes of a mass seller saloon/hatchback just won't?Just wondering what to do with it. Any opinions, sell now to get rid of it or take my chances at it appreciating? I have the space and can keep it indoors away from the elements to preserve it

What would you keep in the shed, a 2.0l WRX or 406 while your waiting for the tax to drop to €50?

I have always felt that these are a beautiful car and most certainly afuture classic. In Ireland there have been many more on the road than I would have expected, but as you say are becoming fewer. Some time ago I read on Boards a list of reasons why one should NOT buy one, the list of niggly things to go wrong was scary.
However I still like these cars a lot.
Question A, if youmdecide to sell , how do you value that car,.?
B If one was to look to buy a 406, is the 3 litre more desireable, or just a bigger engine

Maybe check out some owners clubs UK/IRL and see what they go for.

I don't think it's likely to happen over here. In the UK perhaps.
The Alfa GTV would be in the same category I suppose, though think more of those were sold.

I'd definitely store it rather than give it away for €500

    Always wanted one of these.

If it's the three liter wrap it in cling film.

Nice comfortable little car. The 2.2 diesel with leather is a great place to sit.

Even you are a big grizzley bear like me.

If I was after a cheap comfortable diesel I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in it would come a close second to an Alfa 156 diesel with leather

Thanks for the responses, no it's not the 3 litre it's the more common 2 litre. I suppose it's not going to depreciate any more so I will hang on to it and if I'm ever stuck for a few quid I can sell it then. Or even if I'm ever without a car it can stand in. I do think it might go back up in value when they become scarce but seem to be more popular in the UK. Tax is more for a year than it's worth now which makes it undesirable in Ireland.

Depreciation will have already bottomed out on that car at this stage, doubt it's value will increase though as they just don't have a following here.

If you have the space I'd keep it, alternatively I'll give you the €500 for it. :D

Im not so sure it will ever become a desirable classic but if you like the car sure why not keep it. It might be nice to bring to shows some day etc:)
