Deckhand Jobs in Ireland

I'm wondering if anyone with experience in fishing/maritime work would be able to give me some advice on the best way of finding deckhand jobs in Ireland, specifically around the Dublin area. I've heard talk that your best bet is to head down to the docks and just ask around for skippers with places to fill, though since I'm not from around here I figured it would be best to check.

I don't have much experience working at sea myself, though I'm not a stranger to being on the water and I've had a bit of training from an acquaintance (himself a ship's cook) on the duties in his line of work, which is what I hope to get in to once I've had enough at sea experience.

Any advice on where to look and who to ask regarding work would be a big help. I'd be more than ready to sign on unpaid for a few runs just to get the experience I'd need to further my chances of getting jobs down the line.
