Hey, I'm 21 have my second bike and a full license, a kawasaki ER-5. I have no claims bonus and wanted to get insurance. Carole Nash quoted me 2k!!!

Liberty quoted me 1k but said I needed to get it restricted. Adelaide said I have to be over 23. Anyone know a good cheap place in Dublin to get the restriction done or even another insurance company that wont screw me to the wall? I heard Santry Motorbikes was good but I think they are closed down now?

Give Adelaide Insurance a ring, dont know if you need to be a certain age but you have a full license. I think they are without a doubt the most competitive around by miles.

At your age even €1K is mad money...

SOZ JUST SEEN YOU RANG THEM AND YOU HAVE TO BE 23......WHOOOPS!

The OP did try Adelaide - they told him they only insure people over 23.

You could try AON, but I doubt they'll be much better

Thanks for the tips, I'll give Aon a try tomorrow then. What about some decent garages around? I live in town and am in Swords a lot so a garage around there would be best, thanks!

TBH I know being young is a gold mine for insurance companies but as this is your 2nd bike and you do have a full license it should be recognised. If i was you I would get a bigger bike restricted ( which aon recognise) and go from there. It is a lot better the following year, I insured an 2009 FZ6 in my first year never on bike before for only €499 fully comp with aon. But I am older then you.

Also becoz you have a full license why no go for a grade 2 assessment that will knock a lot off the insurance premium.

How long do you have your Full Licence, is it the old style paper or the new one?

At 36.5KW if you are on an A2 full licence I'd just get a different bike that is just at the 35 KW mark, to restrict a bike by 1.5 KW is mentail.
