I'm just wondering as I seem to be seeing this phrase popping up more often on DD (or maybe its just because I'm spending more time in recent months looking through the 'classic & vintage cars'). But what is a 'barn find'?! I didnt think we had many 'barns' over here, surely 'shed find' :P would be more apt?

It conjours the image of an abondoned old house out on the prairie, with a big old timber barn at the rear, in which, sleeping under 30+ years of dust and a big heavy tarp is a sleeping beauty! :D

Seriously though, whats with all these barn finds. Should read 'had this hape of junk rusting away in the back of the cattle shed' lol.

LOL, yes, but paper never refused ink, or electrons in this case. Basically, an abandoned, neglected, forgotten motor, brimming with potential etc. etc. just needs a little TLC and a ton of money!

Maybe, but every now and again, you find a gem.

But it's just a fashionable word designed to extract more out of people for projects IMO.

More chance of a genuine 'barn find' (sic.) in the uk.

Here we tended to store cars outdoors and drove them until they fell apart, both figuratively and literally.
