Living in a dark rural area with house located c.5m from country road & neighbors c.400m away.

What would be the best sort of security lighting for around a house- dusk to dawn or PIR lights? Any opinions appreciated.

What do want to achieve? You can get 1 watt LED bulbs which can run all night for nothing dotted around the premises running off 240v if you have the cabling.
You can get Hi/Low lights that run low power until the PIR sets off the higher power and the bulb brightens. LED's do not like these units but they work after a fashion.
Floodlights on PIR can back up the 1watt lamps if there is any movement.
If you want remote then run LED floods on PIR off battery and solar panel wherever you want.
    Lots of options??
