Upgrades what to do

I want to upgrade my cpu and dunno what to go for my current specs are:

    i3-2120
    8gb ram
    7870
    120 gb ssd 500gig hdd
    b75 pro 3
    450w amazon

Idea one is just to go for an i7 3770k and 6 months down the line get a new mobo and overclock it.

Idea two is to get a 8350 and a mobo/cooler.

Idea three is to get a 4670k and mobo/cooler.

The main use would be for gaming so I know intel would be a bit better, but I would like to be able to stream a game at the same time aswell if I want and I believe the 8350 is great for that for the price?

    Any help would be great.

Well, no point really changing your board, if its for gaming forget i7, no point over i5. For under €200, can't go wrong with the 3570, 3570K if you want to overclock, but in terms of pure gaming, a 3570 is bullet proof and stronger than an 8350, and avoids all the hassle of a board change. Even if you check the likes of adverts.ie, have seen 2500K's go for 120-130, which is ridiculous value as well, still a fantastic CPU.

If I get a 3570k tho I will have to change my mobo aswell. I suppose I could do that down the line.

You can achieve very limited overclocking on the b75, but at stock it's still a very strong performer and far ahead of the 8350, there's years of life in it so I wouldn't be immediately concerned with the mobo limitation. Just coming at it from a hassle point of view really, nothing easier than just dropping in a new cpu.

Overclocking makesbasically 0 difference to games currently. Maybe an extra 5 fps when your hitting 60 frames. There is very little between AMD and Intel in any game released in the last year again around 5fps or on par. I heard the 8350 is a better processor for recording and streaming games. Below are benchmarks, on par for every game. I'd probably go with AMD these days over thé I5 Tbh, especially with 8 cores of consoles they will be optimised for AMD

    If you say so.

There are games that are more or less equal on both, given most games are heavily GPU dependant, like BF4 for example. But in games that are more CPU dependant, there are a lot of games that show significant gains with Intel. I could show you 20 benchmarks that show the 3570 massively faster than a 8320/8350 in certain games. Just because it maintains parity in most games does that make it as fast as the i5.

I have an FX myself but I wouldn't try to kid myself that it's on par with a 3570k because it just isn't.

Isn't that the point though? And in terms of future proofing, more and more games will start utilizing the extra cores of the 8350.

EDIT: Just to make it clear, I would get an 8320 over the 3570k. Its basically an lowerclocked 8350 and can be overclocked to 8350 levels. And its 60/70 euro cheaper than the 3570k while maintaining parity in most games as you said. Lastly the future proofing thing would tip the scales for me. Just my opinion, they're both excellent processors and you aren't really going wrong with either.

Absolutely and its the reason I have an FX myself but in the context of this thread, there's no point in stating anything other than the guy should get a 3570k because its a statistically stronger performer when he already has a S1155 board, is all. Switching to an FX and 970 or 990 mobo would be a waste.

True enough and he'd need a better psu to handle an overclocked 8320.

only two I can think of are skyrim are starcraft and the difference isn't too bad.

A Xeon is a fourth option, definately the best value option that doesn't involve a motherboard change.
