Can't wait for this ...... it's been a while since Kirkland was fighting.

He's back with the Wolfe as well. Wonder how that all panned out ?
ast time i heard, Kirkland was saying the Wolfe gave him a 'black pill' for doping.

I thought he has split up AGAIN from her?
Are you sure they're back together?

Yeah she's back. See her in the corner.
They're worse than a badly matched married couple.

Now megadodge ...... Canelo Vs Kirkland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,325 ✭✭✭gene_tunney

Great fight, corner were a disgrace not to stop it after 5 though. Idiots. What is wrong with people?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,366 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Rd 2 was every bit as good as any great rd in history!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,366 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Smoger made a balls of the stoppage. He should have leapt in and reefed Kirkland away. Kirkland unloaded 2-3 more clean head shots than was necessary.

Corner should have stopped it at after the 5th at the latest. Disgrace.

Oh yeah baby, Kirkland won't make it 6!!
Actually if Canelo wasn't so patient he could probably do him in the first 2!!

    Dailymotion got it

It's even more brutal second time around.

    I can't see anybody @ 154 beat him to be honest : http://boxrec.com/ratings.php?country=&sex=m&division=Light+Middleweight&status=A&SUBMIT=Go

Kirkland will get KTFO again soon

Agree 100%, although there are a few in the top 10 that he might possibly beat.

Admittedly, win or lose he'll be fun to watch.

I'd say there are definitely a few that he could beat. He has serious power and is very aggressive. Big at LMW too. I mean, if he can't beat the likes of Cotto I would be quite surprised. Wonder how Floyd would cope with his aggression and strength and power?

I'd love to see JK fight Floyd.

    I think Kirkland wins ..........

Strangely enough that mightn't be as crazy as it sounds, even though I'd have to fancy Floyd to weather the early assault and pick him off for a late stoppage or wide UD. I suppose it's an example of styles suiting/not suiting, but early on, assuming Floyd isn't protected by a crooked ref like he was against Hatton it could be very interesting, cos Kirkland's strength and non-stop punching from close range and especially that left uppercut-cum-hook which he lands amazingly regularly are the right tactics to possibly get to the much smaller Floyd.

Floyd's power wouldn't deter Kirkland in the slightest. Kirkland is is real LMW with power and variation, and an underrated boxer. Floyd always finds a way, but with Kirkland at least we'd get someone coming to destroy. Styles make fights. Canelo was too cautious and gave Floyd too much time and respect. I don't think Kirkland gives a f&^k. I'd love to see how Floyd would deal with a guy coming to kill.

Ishida is a light puncher and knocked seven bells out of Kirkland, he's just not very good and is a KO waiting to happen. He is entertaining to watch though. Floyd would be too elusive and accurate for him, could see Mayweather knocking him out and early.

But Tapia unloaded heavy artillery on him and he kept coming. Floyd is a pot shotter.

Well, I thought I was going to be torn to sheds with my comment !

There's no way Floyd would accept this kind of fight - no way

Lara at 154 is the toughest fight out there for FMJ but won't happen for several reasons.

    1. Lara is not a big name or a star, small fanbase
    2. Lara is a southpaw
    3. Lara is rangy
    4. Lara is a counterpuncher, it would be a snoozefest
    5. Lara has a loss and 2 draws on his record

That Ishida loss still has me baffled. If it was a case of the straw that broke the camel's back (as he has taken an awful lot of punches in his career) you'd expect him to have been extremely chinny ever since, but that's not been the case.

Kirkland's first big test was against the very hard-hitting and good quality Colombian Joel Julio, who outboxed Kirkland early and landed some seriously heavy leather but never even made Kirkland blink and he eventually got worn down.

Angulo also has serious power and although once he floored Kirkland he punched himself out, I'd still reckon the numerous punches he landed until the finish were still in the main harder than any Ishida threw.

It doesn't really make sense to me.

Floyd's D is not impregnable. It can be broken. It has been. Mosley almost got the KO, only he couldn't close the show and broke down from rd 3 onwards. Kirkland would pose a lot more power punch issues to Floyd than anyone he has ever faced.
