Heat storage and release

I have seen where a stone fireplace acts as a storage heater, giving off heat during the night when the fire is out.

If an unplugged storage heater was left in a room where there is a solid-fuel stove, would it absorb surplus heat and radiate it at night when the stove goes out? Anyone know the storage and radiating effects of bricks, stone (granite or limestone) and water?
