Hi, got my first car the other week a 98' clio. Car runs great and all but the only downside for me that is is it has a tape player! im 17 and its making me feel old!:pac:

Dont know much about it at all when it comes to replacing things in cars.

Anyone here able to tell me or recommend a radio that isnt crazy expensive that i could replace it with and what would i need to do it as well. Would love one that can have an AUX input if its dooable.

    Thanks

You may need a wiring harness adapter for the new radio, should be easy enough to fit yourself

If its a small single din radio, then yes it would.

I was in the exact same situation as you 1999 renault clio and it had a tape player, I changed the stereo for a Sony xplode CD player, might want to pick up some rear speakers if you want or need them because in some of the clios there is none.

Just make sure the radio you buy has an "ISO" connector which will allow it to plug straight into your cars existing wiring loom. Otherwise youll need an ISO adapter suited to whatever radio you buy. Youll likely need an ariel adapter too. Either male to female or the other way round. For about eight euro you can play it safe and get both.

With regards to the radio. To be honest, on a ratio of functionality/price, the Lidl or Aldi radios are very hard to beat. 1-3 year warranties, CD, Mp3, Usb, Aux-in, Bluetooth for music and calls, and some have extras for sub woofers and the like. And theyre generally 50-70 quid too. Ive had a few in years past and only one gave trouble: the volume knob on a silver crest radio. (It might just be me but Tevion do feel slightly better built). So if youre willing to wait Id go there.

Go to halfords if your not sure. They will sell you everything you need including a decent branded headunit like pioneer or alpine. You wont need a fascia adaptor the clio is a single din slot. You will need an aerial adaptor.

Halfords will fit it for you too if you dont mind paying that is. Dont buy a lidl job, they might have functionality but the interface and appearance is generally crap. Most of the pioneers are half price in halfords atm.
