The Hunger Games Catching Fire for me. Just saw this the other day and loved it. It is much darker than the first one and i just found it really intriguing. Captures a dystopian society brilliantly.

    Drinking Buddies.

No script. Acting & dialogue was totally improvised to the director's guidance. By that I mean the actors got to the set, director told them "In this scene, you answer the phone while you try to distract her".

Wonderful acting, makes you appreciate the difference between actors & movie stars.

Vanilla Sky, lots of people didnt like it, they complained that it made no sense, were they even paying attention?

The Matrix - went to the cinema without having seen so much as a trailer for it. talk about blown away.

Gone baby Gone - myself and my wife debated the ending for weeks afterwards - an excellent film.

I also seem to have a tolerance for big loud action films that tend to rankle the intellectuals - e.g. I actually enjoyed that Battleship film with liam neeson. They're essentially cartoons made real.

Rise of the Planet of The Apes. Really excellent summer popcorn movie, which is extremely rare nowadays if you ask me

Latest one that comes to mind is Ruby Sparks.

Went in knowing very little about it - thought it was a very well written, hilarious, charming little gem of a movie.

Dumb and Dumber: I usually hate this type of "broad" comedy - absolutely can't stand Adam Sandler - and Jim Carrey is an immediate warning sign for any movie. However, I never laughed so much in my life - got the Cringe Vs Laugh ratio spot on!
