We bought a samsung laptop from pcworld couple months ago.
But it is win8 and major problems trying to instal dual boot Linux.
Would they roll it back to win7 and maintain warranty ?

You'd have to ask them. I'd doubt it. Have you considered running Linux in a virtual machine?

Well ... it turned out that the Laptop is a Lenovo and has a completely LOCKED BIOS. My son reached the end of the road despite spending a LOT of time with a Linux group in Dublin, and was told to sell it and get another.

However ... tonight he flashed the BIOS with an update and deleted ALL partitions ... and bingo he has W7 on it and it is updating prior to tackling Linux :-) Turns out he is learning something in DIT :-)
