Gas installed - not register by RGII

    Hi all,
Really hoping for some advice here. The OH and I recently bought a house and have gotten the heating system changed over from oil to gas. We dealt with a contractor who told his that the plumber was RGII certified and foolishly we believed him.
We're now in a position where the work is done, he's getting some-one to sign the cert and there's no heating in the house. Can we get an RGII certified plumber to check all his work and issue his own certificate to get the gas connected or are we well and truly snookered :(
    Thanks,
    Toffy

I'd be putting pressure on the contractor to sort this out, you can report it to BGE as they take this very seriously.
You can get it certified independently, but most guys don't like certifying others work.

Thanks for this, we're really worried about it and the contractor is not being of any help. Is it possible to get the work certified independently?

It is a CRIMINAL offence by law for an un regestered person to work on gas. This is a serious matter as it will also affect your home insurance. YOU as the householder, have to report it to RGII.ie tel No. 01 4997998 no matter what your contractor says.
Other installers are NOT allowed to sign off on unknown workmanship.

Ring RGII as they are very helpful and have come across this before, they will then give the go ahead for a regestered installer to certify your house. Not a big problem but you do have to contact RGII first. It's the law.

Try posting on the plumbing & heating forum and you will get simular reply.

Your not at fault so don't worry, just contact RGII. Their the good guys .

I know as I'm an RGII approved installer.

Agree with Scudo, you must report it to cover yourself.

If he is Rgi you should be getting a cert from him after the work is completed. Insist on this

Why was he getting someone else to sign a cert.
