These are really adapted GoogleGlasses. Google in the right lens and a soap opera in the left.

Popular here in Japan too, but the glasses often don't even have any actual lenses in them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,068 ✭✭✭LoonyLovegood

I have a pair, purely because I'm blind as a bat and smaller ones are even more difficult for me to see.

We'll all be wearing these in a couple of years & saying that all other glasses look stupid.

If you ask me they are making a right bloody spectacle of themselves.

Just foreign hipsters, how are you only noticing this now? Not got your big glasses on?

can you be a hipster if you only wear huge glasses though? like I haven't seen them wearing the glasses matched with a cowboy hat, work gloves and fishing waders, just the glasses, part time hipsters?

I've seen this in Ireland too and I don't quite get it. I've worn glasses for 25 years and it does kind of bug me when I see people wearing glasses with no lenses in them. I'd gladly swap my crappy vision with them so they'd actually have a reason to need glasses :)

    Yes.

Yeah they're not foreign they're just hipsters.

  • I wear huge glasses. I love them because they don't restrict my field of vision in the way normal ones do. I'm absolutely delighted they're in fashion so I can find them easily. I actually went for a good few years without wearing glasses when I needed them because I can't stand the way normal frames cut off your peripheral vision and frameless glasses look ridiculous on me. So that's why I wear them and I don't care if people think I'm a hipster.

A better question would be, why are some people so concerned when people wear something or look slightly outside their narrow definition of normal? Why the need to attach a label such as "hipster" as a catch all to describe anyone who doesn't wear bootcut wranglers, a checked shortsleve shirt, laseless base tan leather shoes and 'normal' glasses?

Is it because you're a bit insecure with difference?

Nah, they're just in fashion (not just hipster fashion). I think they can look sexy on the right face.

Hiding their face so as to avoid the embarrassment of being seen in Ireland? Fair play too them....

    .
I wonder could I pedal false legs as a fashion accessory.

I'll conduct my market research in the Isle of Man

There should be a law passed to ensure that it is illegal for more than two Spanish teenagers to congregate in a group together on the streets of our towns and cities. No groups at all if wearing enormous glasses, or if their voice registers above 120 decibels when talking.

On behalf of your Brethren here in Ireland you are compelled to poke any such twat right in the eye for being a twat.

So what? Anime has many different genres, some for kids, some for adults.

    Hipsters?!

Korea was unbelievable for them too. They can make a really sexy attractive girl look really ugly. The ones on Koreans would have been the size of a 28inch telly and cover half their face. Both men and women wore them and half would not even have glass it just be the frame!

What, like hard core? Snuff? Rape fantasies? Paedophilia? Bestiality?

You'll find that in a majority of countries. Sadly. But it's much easier to generalise about just one, isn't it?
