Upgrading my router

Current setup: On Eircom and connected at 20MB. When it's connected it's fine but over the past week I've had too many disconnects so my router is seemingly finished. I currently use it for wirelessly connecting 2 PCs and a PS4. Would like to keep to spend below 40 euro if possible? Waste of money picking up one of these guys below?

Although I'm not sure if that counts as an upgrade!

If your in contract eircom will send you a new modem free. If thats the issue, it could be a fault causing disconnects.

I wouldn't necessarily put it down to the router. Disconnects on Eircom wireless have become an all too common occurence. You will find lots of reports on here about it (the "Talk to Eircom" forum) and on Eircom's own website forum.

Happened me regularly until I got eFibre installed recently.

Personally, I think it goes back to when Eircom started installing the eFibre cabinets in my area, but I have no proof of that. Happened to many of my neighbours and friends too. Eircom won't admit to a problem though.

    Out of contract unfortunately!

I called eircom support and they said it was the router that was causing the problem. That May or may not be the case but I've no way of really knowing, do I? It disconnects probably 20-30 times daily so the only solution in my mind is to pick up a new router.

Make sure you buy an ADSL2+ router because that's the only compatible for your connection (which is "up to 24mb").

I have a top-of-the-range ADSL2+ Netgear that I paid €130 for and I would sell for €40 because it's no use to me and it has no plug.

Something like that is fine. If you want to splash out get a 3700 or 3800(Modem Variant not Cable Router).

Thanks. This looks to be the same one but not great reviews! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-DGN1000-150Mbps-Wireless-N-Connection/dp/B002WOXYHS/ Harsh reviews?

Also, is there any way of tracking how many times I disconnect throughout the day? I just want to see how many times it does go.

Anyone know if it's possible to track the number of times I disconnect during the day? Want to let it run while I'm out of the house.
