    Hi Folks,

    We have a new house (5 years old) and the upstairs rooms seem really cold. I was in the attic and some of the fibreglass was moved around but Id like to put in spray insulation if possible.

    Can anyone tell me what the cost for spray foam insulation is, or would anyone recommend a good attic insulation?

    The cost of spray foam would depend on the size of the area you want covered but ring around 3 different companies and get quotes from the guys to see what has to be done.
    I recently put an extra 200mm of earth wool into my attic on top of the 100mm that was there for around €150 (7 rolls) and it's made a big difference, took roughly 6 hours .

    All your doing is insulating your attic space and not your rooms below.

    Put an extra layer of 200mm insulation over the existing stuff.

    Apologies for hijacking this thread but find myself in a similar position...

    I want to add another 200-300 mm of roll insulation (fibreglass or similar) to my existing 100mm (just bought old house, but existing is sound, just not enough of it.)

    Is it more efficient to add the 300mm extra;
    (a) in 3 x 100mm (each at right angles to the previous)
    (b) in 2 x 150mm (as above) or
    (c) in 1x 200mm + 1 x 100mm

    or does it even matter which way I do it?

    Money to a certain extent is not really an issue, want it done correctly and most efficiently and dont intend to use the space for storage.

    Thanks very much for any help you may be able to offer.

    :)

    Thank you mr ceiling, wasn't sure if there would have been a difference and was having a preference for 150 over 150 myself.

    I like the knauf earthwool 150mm, seems to have decent reviews and reasonably priced.

    Thanks again
