What sort of heating system is this?

    Hi All,

I viewed a house recently and the heating system was gas fired but rather than radiators, it heated air which ciculated through vents in the floor of each room.

Could someone advise what this system is called and if they are any good/efficient etc.

Picture here. You can see the vents around the sides of the flooring.

Also, I don't know anything about gas fired boilers. The sticker seemed to indicate that it as due a service in 2010 and nothing to suggest it had been done since. Presumably this is an issue?

    Thanks for your assistance!

Hot air heating systems ( old ones ) was/is a very inefficient expensive type of heating that I use to be replacing with rad + new boiler 25 years ago.
How old is the boiler + photo and make will help.
I'm a long time out of the gas industry but a lot of good gas guys here might be able to give a better opinion if we knew what make and model boiler is + photo always helps.

Thanks Scudo. I don't know what model the boiler is but if I can get another viewing soon I will post some pics up. From what I can recall, it didn't look particularly ancient but I guess regardless, the system could be a mess.

I presume a full overhaul/replacement of a heating system with something modern is very very expensive?
