I see a few missed approaches this morn as the wind gusts over 47kts. Emirates in their big 777 went around but got in the next time.

God speed to all those tackling the elements......rwy 28 is a hoor for wind shear with positive turning into nasty negative shear all in the last 400ft so for those not familiar with DUB it can be a handful of an approach when the wind is blowing especially from a south west direction as the wind rattles over the dub mountains.

It has not been too bad so far this morning with the wind currently at 250 so most have got in, not all on the first go though. Just watched an Aer Arran land and it looked a bit on the bumpy side. The next few hours may be interesting as if it starts gusting over 55kts the air bridges can't be used. There have been a few 50kts gusts in the past 20 minutes.

Landing into Edinburgh this morning the approach controller told us there was 17ktG30 of crosswind alone reported by previous traffic on approach...the metar gave 28027G47KT.

It was a bit tasty all the same....

If it was in the Hatemal, can we get confirmation it was actually BHX and not BHM, Alabama? :pac:

Defo BHX. You can tell by the amount of concrete dust blown all over the runway :-)
