As the title says I'm looking for suggestions for a console (PS3/4, xbox etc) type controller for Minecraft played on a PC. I understood that the xbox controller would work, perhaps I'm wrong, but with the new model 360 and one I'm not sure which will or won't work.
Can anyone help with this. Thanks

I've configured my Xbox 360 controller to work with Minecraft on the PC but I had to purchase an additional piece of software.
Google "pinnacle game profiler" - this software allows you to map inputs from the controller to the inputs expected for mouse/keyboard. The site has pre made up profiles for use with a lot of PC games, including Minecraft.

Amazingly, they have a sale on now where the s/w is 50% off - $10.

If you have a ps3 controller lying around there are unofficial drivers you can use with it along with joy2key

Thanks I might go down that route.
Is there any difference between a Microsoft and another brand controller as there's quite a difference in price, will I still be able to configure both or should I dig deep and go genuine?

honestly if it's for Minecraft, don't get a 360 controller. joy2key will be able to map out the any joypad controller correctly. A cheap one for a tenner is enough.

I got a licensed "Afterglow" XBox 360 controller from Argos for about €25 I think it was - not a Microsoft branded one, but functions in exactly the same way: http://www.argos.ie/ProductDisplayTRK019?partNumber=9088535
