It was the only Irish forum that ever really gave Boards.ie a run for its money in terms of popularity and I would even say it had more activity than even here at one point.

Ive just checked the site for the first time in years and I see its no longer active, no doubt many users over the years abandoned ship for Boards till there were very few left to make it worthwhile.

    Anyone remember p45rant.net?

Was is not just p45.net? Had "resignation letter" generators and similar on it?

No it was definitely a hugely popular Irish forum called p45rant.net (and probably not a dream). It had a button on every forum called Boss Alert (or similar) that would change any active page on it into a spreadsheet ;)

Cheers. I found this; "Most users ever online was 714, 1st November 2006 at 01:51 AM"

So its safe to say it peaked around 2006

Remember it well - if I recall there was some friction between users. They thought they were hip and we knew otherwise.

I remember p45/p45rant.net. I'd the same imaginative name on that site too.

I enjoyed it very much and miss some great characters.

    RIP

Yes! I was a member for about 5 years. I'm sure there are a few refugees from P45 here. A lot of the same churlish bad humor seems to be present.

    Who remembers boardsie .com ?

    https://web.archive.org/web/20090318033237/http://www.boardsie [dot}com/

I think it was the product of someone who got banned here and decided to try beat boards at their own game, ultimately he failed and boardsie [dot] com is gone and boards.ie is still here.

boardsie [dot] com is even in the swear fileter list here still

I remember it, didn't like it much. I didn't think it was much cop or that it ever gave boards a run for its money.

One of the best boards that had huge traffic was iVenus which belonged to U magazine if I remember rightly. It had an ancient format which was clunky and extremely slow. They rejuvenated it a few years ago but it's never reached the same level of popularity since.

PLB or Premier League Boston was another popular board, mainly soccer but with a general chat forum which makes even the old AH look like Little Women.

There's a part during Devore's great Q&A on After Hours where he reflects on P45rant.net and its popularity, its somewhere in that long thread but the whole thing is a great read.

714 registered users online at the same time is also a respectable number given the year.

Obviously the right forum won the battle though ;)

I remember it! They had some software that displayed your screen upside-down. And you'd have people in the office physically inverting their monitors. Was amazing.

It was a forum dominated by the middle class "soccer moms in their SUV's" type posters. At least boards has a vast range of representation across Irish society.

aw.. I remember it..and really liked it... a bit sad now they were simpler days... sigh.. there was never really enough people on it though so there was not enough happening... soccer moms? I don't really think so.

Not really, although they did look down their nose at After Hours. In fairness AH at the time was the 4Chan of Boards. Its come a long way ;)
