    Hi,

Major cock up at local filling station,

diesel pump was giving out petrol . .

i put about 100eur worth of diesel in car, turns out it was petrol

i got about 3 miles and it gave in. jerking, missing, droping power.

long story short, filling station took all cars, drained tanks, supposedly cleaned lines, filters etc.. .admitted they screwed up. refusing though to give any sort of responsibility should my fuel pump go tomorrow morning.

    full story here

    car running now as normal.

    but just wondering,

what if any issues could arise, and when should i expect them , next day or two, a month, 6 months. . . .?

anything i should look out for ?

they said the mix that was in their tank was 50/50. .. but i have my doubts... i got a bottle of the sfuff beside me, and to me it looks fairly 70/30 . . i only smell petrol of it. ..

    went in to a Ford Mondeo Mk4. . . 1.8

    Thanks all

Petrol, will burn in a diesel car as it has a lower combustion point! Shouldnt cause ant major problems, Tbh, people actually recommend running a small but of petrol through a diesel car is it will clean out the engine etc,

Only older diesels mind, I do it all the time and have done for years. Helps with emissions for the NCT.

Wouldnt risk it on a newer common rail diesel.

i know, i used to do this myself. .

but thats like 50eur diesel, and maybe 5 petrol

but were talking 100 eur worth which 75% was probably petrol..

also was a smell off burning in the car as turned the engine off, and running as if it had no diesel knock. . .. . . almost like an electric motor noise. . .smooth if u know what i mean

local guy told me, oh ya, it will run hot alright, ud smell it. . . . sher it was petrol. .

After reading your other thread, once you have conclusive proof, i would be getting the tank drained and refilled with the correct fuel and sending the bill for both to the garage owner.

And follow up through SCC if needed.

Diesel is a lubricant as well as a fuel. Cr pumps and injectors are built to miniscule tolerances. What type or car is it? 3 miles without lubrication can do a lot of damage...

    1.8 TDCi mondeo.

His car probably suffered some increased wear on the fuel system. Petrol has some additives in it to increase lubrication as does diesel. The bit of diesel left in would also of helped. together with the fact NBF only went three miles too most of that on pure diesel.
