Retro Fit Back Boiler into current system

    Hello all,

We are looking at getting a stove with a back boiler installed. There is no provision at the moment for a back boiler (i.e. pipework).

Currently the house has two levels. The radiators on each level are independent of each other. Also, we have an oil burner and solar panels feeding into our dual core tank in the hotpress. We would like the Stove to heat the downstairs rads, and the oil to heat the upstairs rads.

I can get pipes to and from the location of the stove from the hotpress relatively easily, but I'm wondering what is the best way to plumb it in. I have been given 3 options already:
    1. Replace the tank with a triple input one, which I'm not keen on as it is a really good tank and was pretty expensive.
    2. Install a new smaller tank in the attic above the living room, just for the stove, and link it to the radiator manifold in the hotpress.
    3. Install a heat exchanger and link it to the hotpress (not sure what this it).

Logistics aside, what would be the better option? Are there any other alternatives?

Has anyone any thoughts on this?
I have a plumber due out to me this week and want to 'educate' myself a little bit in advance.
