...this is worse than the lisbon treaty...yet another usi referendum to come this year - some group must really want us to join...

That's because the last one was declared null and void.

USI felt the result should have stood despite it being un-constitutional. They were big whingebags about it afterwards. Hopefully we'll give them a big, fat resounding "no" and they'll finally **** off.

Not to mention that they never should have been allowed on campus. I wonder how the result will change without the USI legions out en-masse.

Not a chance will they be let on campus again. Not after interupting lectures last time.

That's the way it should be in my opinion. Students who are campaigning have a limit as to how they can spend. USI don't.

Also, Sean Rooney motioned to have the null and void decision over-turned at Class Rep Council. It returned a resounding "no".

Agreed. Sat on the electoral committee last year. It was anything but a fair referendum.

It was Sean Cassidy not Sean Rooney.

I had to duck out early but I was sure it said it was Sean Rooney who motioned for it on the agenda?

Apologies if I'm wrong, of course.

EDIT: Actually, if it's Sean Cassidy who motioned for it then it's even worse, he was part of the team who wrote the current Constitution which includes the article that made the entire referendum un-constitutional..

Sean Rooney was the returning officer who ignored countless people telling him the referendum was unconstitutional before it was even held

That was the first fees referendum (the one Ed Leamy had to declare null and void) I think. Sean Rooney was campaigning with USI. Aideen Holden was the returning officer for the USI referendum.

Yes right you are. Funny how the incompetent bounce around the SU, am sure Rooney has some other position now

Being fair to Aideen, she did the job as best anyone could. We were told we could face potential legal action from USI if we didn't let them on campus. The information campaign wasn't our responsibility either.

USI also managed to obtain a copy of polling station times, which they weren't supposed to have, if I recall correctly. Someone behind the scenes seemed to want USI in very badly. Not sure who mind.
