WD TV Live/Play Apps in Ireland

Hi, just a quick question on these as I was thinking about getting one for my dad. What is the app selection like in Ireland, is Netflix definitely available on these in Ireland?

I think all he will want is netflix, youtube and to stream videos over the home network from a PC so if both of these can do it then that's good enough. I doubt if RTE player etc. will ever be available on these but I could be wrong?

    Cheers.

I have one and Netflix does work as does Vimeo and YouTube. There's a host of other video services that I wouldn't be bothered with. Audio services include Spotify and Deezer. You are stuck with the apps they supply and there's no app store as such. No Irish players. I asked RTE about a player for WD but doesn't seem to be on their agenda.

You can stream your own content across your network. Nice unit.

Hey Five Lamps, can you confirm if you're talking about the WD TV Live or the WD TV Play? I want to buy one for my godparents as a present for Xmas (with netflix sub) but don't know which one is compatible with Netflix. Reviews on Amazon/Komplett/Dabs are mixed for both. Some state they bought it for netflix and it's brilliant. Others say they bought it for netflix and it doesn't work. They are also from a while ago, though. Can't seem to find a straight answer …help!

It's the Live version. Netflix does work in Ireland as I have used it myself. You need to have the current firmware installed.
