    Hello all
Ive recently had an eye opening visit to the dentist, ive been told i need to see a periodontist and been given a general quote of 1000 euro for a deep clean(think this is the correct term)
More than likely its a consultation first. What Im wondering here is can anyone recommend one that maybe has a price a bit lower than this.
I don't have the 1000 euro to pay for the procedure but i really would like to hold on to my teeth and im sizing up my options Im in the westmeath region and would consider anywhere in the country including going up north. Please PM me so as not to break forum rules.
    Thanks for any recommendations given

    Hi purebokety,
I know its june 3013 since you posted "Periodontist needed" but i am in need of one myself (and i have to have a root canal on one of my back teeth) money is an issue, did you find anyone suitable, i have found one in the Dublin area, but the consultation fee was €180.00 and he has quoted me €800.00 for a full mouth de- somthing (cant remember the word) its a lot of money did you find a better price, i am willing to go anywhere in ireland for treatment,
Can you pm any recommendations please.

Have you chaps considered coming to galway? but you have to realise that one deep clean isnt the end of the problem, gum disease after deep clean need more frequent support from the dentist and more active maintenance from the patient to keep the gums stable

If i need to have more than one appointment i would need to stay local (Dublin) but i thought i could have a deep clean then keep it up with the hygienist? a friend gave me the name of someone in Dublin that can do the clean in one visit but it will take 2 or 3 hours, I'm not looking forward to that and i think its about €700 and the cost of the consultation is again €180.00 and then €80 every 3 months for the hygienist i cant see me being able to afford all that if anyone knows anywhere cheaper please tell me i think smiles hygienist is €50.00 so that a bit better but the other treatment is way over my budget

the thing is I cant comment without seeing your perio chart what kind of deep clean you do need and hence cant do any pricing for you and doing open pricing here in a internet forum without examining a patient is not appropriate.if somebody examined you and took you through the appropriate diagnostic process then not having it could actually make things worse. gum disease is insidious, painless so considerable damage can take place without you realising it. I see this happening every day especially on the new customers who has come to us after a gap of not going to any dentist for sometime. And they are in shock when the message is given to them they are going to lose some if not all of their teeth. Because of the economic climate lot of people has cut short their regular visit to the dentist.
