    guys

I have an old Fuji Finpix s5500 that I never really used much. I want to learn to take better photos than just point and click and I figured because this has aperture and shutter priority mode and as far as I know allows for manual focus etc to start with without me spending too much cash.

so I was wondering are lenses interchangeable by manufacturer or do I need to stick with a fuji lens?

what would be the best lens to start out with?

I may be wrong, but I think that camera is a 'bridge' camera and doesn't have interchangeable lenses?

I have one at home too gathering dust although I checked it a couple of months ago and it still works.

Definitely a bridge camera. No lens changing. And with an elementary EVF I'd forget totally about attempting manual focus.

Aperture & Shutter priority work fine. And Fuji colours are lovely!

yes its a bridge what ever that is :o

it comes with an adaptor that sits over the existing lense that looks like it will allow attachements liek other lenses or maybe its just filters or something I'm new to photography so I havent a clue

    It's just for different filters.

My suggestion is that you get familiar with the camera in manual/aperture/shutter modes and when you feel you've hit the limitations of what you can do with it it's time to look at buying into an SLR system.

Just remembered, there IS a wide-angle and macro lens available. But I'm not sure it's worth spending €99 on a camera that's got a market value of probably less than tenner at this stage.
