I was coming from the airport going south @6:50am this morning.
I saw on the northbound lane somewhere around the Naul exit,

4-5 Garda bikes with full blue lights
    followed by
3-4 Squad cars with full lights
    followed by
    3-4 army land cruisers
    followed by
    2 more bikes full lights
    then
a black van with hazards flashing
    followed by
a couple of squad cars, bikes and one or two more army cruisers
Then a 500M gap before 2 more squad cars holding back normal traffic.
There was also a low flying helicopter overhead...

Any idea what/who could be so important as to warrant this level of security?

    ..In before Bertie/Bono/Katie Taylor/Dustin etc...

It's probably the cash run to/from the airport (newly minted currency)

The Euro notes are all printed in Portugal. They have to be taken from the airport to sandyford every couple of weeks.

Yes, to collect a consignment of lovely fresh Euro notes coming.
Said consignment would amount to tens of millions.

Probably all the old fivers being taken to the landfill.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Pretty sure we print notes for other eurozone countries as well. Not 100% sure

Ireland only prints €10 notes. When there were too many printers, there was too much variance between notes and it was harder to pick out the fakes.

I saw this once, but with 3 lorries separated by what seemed like half the defence forces.

Going to take a guess at moving c4, artillery shells, the brig. gen's porn stash, etc.

They possibly had Brindan Ogled hogtied in the Black van. They then took him up in a chopper and threatend to chuck him out. Someone was watching Scarface and decided to think laterally. Happily a deal was struck and all the issues resolved. They then dropped him off in Stephens Green with a peacock feather sticking out of his bum.

or else it was a super-cash convoy..
