Granny gift ideas

Hi, just looking for any inspiration for a present for my granny. We're doing Christkindl in my family and I got her. She's really hard to buy for - doesn't wear makeup, perfume or jewellery. Also was told to not get her clothes because she has enough in her wardrobe.

The only thing that she does for a hobby really is bake - she likes trying out new recipes. So anyone got an ideas of must have or cool gadgets to use while baking? Don't really want to get her a cookie tray or something like that, want something unique. Budget is about €50.

I saw this online, thought it was a very cute idea

    http://http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dear-Grandma-Journal-Lifetime-Journals/dp/1907048022/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386106340&sr=8-1&keywords=Granny+journal

Marks and Sparks has nice Great British Bake off gifts too if she was into it.

Don't think she watches that show.

Anyone know any good shops for cooking/baking gadgets? Debenhams etc were a bust.

I dunno if baking gadgets are the way to go? If she bakes regularly she might just see a gadget as a gimmick. One thing I do rate though are the teaspoon measures, but that's very small.

You could do her a hamper of stuff. I did my two grandmothers a hamper with a fluffy dressing gown, really thick soft white towel, toiletries set in it. It came to €30 ish I think. You could add in some other stuff like a birdsong cd, scented candle, bottle of brandy and so on. Modify as per your grans tastes?

Another option would be to get her something very glamorous like soft leather gloves with a faux fur trim.

I don't think I can be much help on the baking end though. Most baking stuff is fairly basic and a regular baker would already have it.. Unless you went down the route of a very pretty tiered cake stand and pastry spoons & forks?

If your granny likes teas and tea caddies have a look here http://basilurtea.co.uk/ . I ordered some for my mam a couple of weeks ago, they are fab, especially the festival collection. If you spend £50 or more it's free delivery. The ordering process on the site is rubbish but if you send an email they'll sort you out.

I've got my gran an oilcloth shopper http://www.ebay.ie/itm/William-Morris-Strawberry-Thief-Small-PVC-Oilcloth-Bag-Tote-Shopping-Bag-UK-Made-/181254438845?pt=UK_Women_s_Handbags&hash=item2a339b3fbd . There's some lovely ones on EBay if she likes that type of thing and it's the cheapest place I've seen them.

I'd probably go with a safe option if she's that hard to buy for. A nice fluffy dressing gown, slippers, and pyjamas. Maybe a foot spa too? A new mug and a boxset of her favourite tv show. Throw in a few bath goodies and it sounds like a good present to me. You could also try to source something she watched years ago that wouldn't be on the telly any more to complete the pressie.

Is she in her 90s or 60s?

Why not do up a basket/hamper of baking products that will keep her going for a while? Also, the ICA have a book out that includes if she would be in to that kind of thing.

I've also seen some really nice recipe books around town recently. My mother got a little box complete with recipe cards last year and she loved it. You could get her something along those lines and then volunteer your time to help her write out the recipes.
