Hi folks I'm moving into a new house next week and I have decided not to bother with sky and I can not get upc so I have decided to go with a free sat box.

Now I was wondering can someone recommend one to me that has both the irish tv channels and all the freesat English ones too.

I don't mind that it does not record as I can buy a external hard drive to do that but if there was one which had it all the better.
There is a Sat dish on the roof already so I'm sorted there.

    Thanks in advance

If you want Irish and Free to Air satellite channels on the one box then its a Combi Box you are looking for, like the Ferguson Ariva etc. There are plenty of threads on here about them.

But if you want the best freesat box, as you ask in your thread title, then it won't pick up Irish terrestrial channels I'm afraid.

If you're going down the free route for the Irish and UK channels you will require a satellite dish and aerial. With the dish and aerial you have 2 options

    - Combi Saorview/FTA satellite receiver - http://www.saorview.ie/saorview-combi/

None with built-in HDD, no 7 day satellite guide, no satellite digital text, no series link, no satellite auto channel update if channels change frequency.

    - Separate Freesat STB or Freesat+ twin-tuner PVR and Saorview TV and/or STB or twin-tuner PVR. Freesat offers 7 day epg, red button/digital text, auto channel updates, series linking for a PVR etc.

    Saorview TVs/STBs - http://www.saorview.ie/get-saorview/saorview-approved-product-listings/

There is only 1 Saorview+ PVR available at the moment, the Walker WP6500TTR. Twin-tuner (to "record one/watch one" or "record two/playback one"), 7 day guide, series link (intermittant), digital text.

This has been replaced by the ariva 252 but if you can find a 250 it will work equally as well.

guys this a technical fresat box question.

going to get a basic non hdr freesat box for a second room to hook up to my saorview TV.

Was all set to go for the Manhatten Plaza HD S2 box for £49 but it does not support any other satellites other that 28.2.

Trying to get info on the Humax 1000s which is £99 and it was reviewed in what satellite but i can't access the review would anybody know if it supports 19.2 as well.

Its not a deal breaker but i have both 19.2 and 28.2 on the one sat cable. Tks
