I was drivin my dad's '01 laguna II 1.6 the other day and noticed alot of feedback through the gearstick. After you changed gear and got back on the throttle you could feel the gearstick moving from what felt like the engine and box twisting.

I also got a serious bit of dashboard judder when I got back on the throttle after a speed bump and was going too slow for second gear(normally drive a daysil:p).

Is this a case of just a wobbly mount? Is there a common one to go?

By nature, any of the rod-linkage Renaults move a bit but the torsional mount is a common enough fault. It gives a "warped flywheel" effect when taking off, rattling the the whole car and even making the car easier to stall. Id check there first, its bolted between the bottom of the gearbox, under the differential section of the casing and the subframe directly behind it. One of the very few "easy" jobs on them :D

Sounds like my kind of job :P. Thought it might be the lower mount alright, but it did have a flywheel type feel to it so thought I ask. I might do it over christmas so.
