    hi all,

I am trying to decide which to ask Santa for, for Christmas..would it be

The complete series of Battlestar Galactica (Bluray) or series 1-6 of the Big Bang Theory

I've heard that BSG is one of the best sci-fi TV shows and from the few I've seen it would be something I could get into quite easily. Dark, gritty great SFX and story

Big Bang Theory is prob the most popular comedy going for the past couple of years - it is nerd centric as are its jokes which I love, the episodes are short so you can get a good few laughs in a very short space of time

    Decisions, decisons....any help?

Get Bored to Death instead as it is better.

Big Bang is always on a channel somewhere so go with BSG

get parks and recreation or 30 rock for a good comedy, bbt is good too but they are much better.
BSG is a great series, personally would want that more.

I just binge watched all of BSG - it was a good series but the latter half of the last season sucked major donkey balls imo.

BSG- Baltar is funnier than any of the characters on BBT. Do agree though that BSG suffered in the third and final seasons

Ask for Babylon 5 instead :p

Big Bang Theory is one of the most unfunny TV shows I've seen in a long time. If it were between that and the other option, then I'd definitely go for Battlestar Galactica.

Agreed one of the best shows of any kind of the last 25 years criminally underrated and Star Trek Deep Space Nine stole from it blatantly.

For drama and comedy Babylon 5 rocks.

Londo & G'Kar.. Can be comedy gold.

Wouldn't bother my hole with "The Big Bang Theory".

Entire "BSG" is on Netflix so, do a free trial or sign up, cost less than buying the damn thing.

+1 for Babylon 5. It's a truly great show but suffered somewhat in the last season due to being cancelled and then renewed last minute. Doubt if you'd get the BluRay bang per buck you'd get with BSG however as B5 is just about 20 years old now.

BBT... I really don't get it! It's so unfunny. Reminds me of a show to allow non nerds laugh along with nerds. It sits right up there with 2 and a half men as being incredibly unfunny yet inexplicably popular!

If it was me I'd be going the way of BSG for the 1080p DTS BluRay goodness.

Here's a curveball. If you decide to just go the netflix route but want a box set, go look up American Gothic from 1995. It stares Gary Cole as a small town sheriff who is also a demon of some sort. It's also got Paige Turcos so it might be of um, interest to some Person Of Interest fans. It was a one season wonder sadly but a standout show nonetheless.

american gothic is incredible also, shame it only got one season

another sci fi clasic a lot of people seem to have missed is farscape. the use of the henson company to make the aliens makes it stand out visually before you even get to the incredible design of the aliens and ships and the plot/characters are second to none.

I'd go along with the 30 Rock shout. Great comedy

Now you have a great reason to watch Babylon 5 just to get that! :D

Yes to 2 of the 3 items above.
