I'm badly stuck with a mechanically perfect car that won't start. It starts momentarily then instantly shuts down. My mechanic is at a dead end, says it's sparking, is getting fuel, but the current to the injectors is fine, then drops as soon as it starts, like it's being immobilized or a dodgy ECU or sensor somewhere. Being so old the connector is a strange one, can't seem to find anyone who has the adapter to come and look at it. See this image

It's looking like a main dealer job which makes it not worth doing as it would need to be lifted there and besides that the tax is out since July, last thing I need this side of Xmas frown.png

    I'm in North Roscommon

Any fault, codes if present, can be read using a jumper wire and an led (flash codes)

Got the diagnostics read and it's immobilised so now wondering if anyone who knows how to bypass the immobiliser could pm me

Maybe just an issue in reading the transponder? Or did the codes definitely indicate something else? Do you have another transponder key? Has anything happened your main key that would affect the transponder? Are you in an area with the possiblity of some rogue radio frequency emissions?
Was the car broken into and ignition tampered with?
In some cars it is the immobiliser "coil" or "ring" near the ignition barrel that gives trouble. I'd imagine they would be cheap from a scrappie.

A good auto locksmith might be able to check both your key and your ahem "ring" in the car?

Only have one key, i got a key cut a few weeks ago, but this is not chipped so does not work the ignition, was never even tried in the ignition. The car just shut down at the side of the road and now is at my mechanics and doing the same. Traynors have the full immobiliser kit, key, ignition and immobiliser ecu for £100.

Shut down while driving? I'm not a mechanic or an auto spark, but that sounds to me like immobiliser ecu fault rather than key or ignition transceiver ring. You might need that kit alright. Add fitting to that and you could be looking at a good chunk of what the car would sell for on a good day. You'd want to be sure that would cure it. Joys of motoring :-(

Edit - if someone could do a cheap workaround the immobiliser that might be the best thing. I'm guessing you'll be driving that into the ground, grand cars if running right but worth sweet FA and hard to sell these days I'd say...
