Spotted this thread in BA,seems you can get the Setanta pack for €1 for December,I assume you need to sign up & give the 30 day notice at the same time if you don't want to keep it.

I just signed up for this. I have an old sky box and card hanging around so took a one euro gamble on this but I am getting the message "this is the wrong card for this set top box". I haven't been a sky customer in years so I cant contact them, any work around for this?

I was kind of wondering the same, my sky card has been inactive for a few years now but I'd like to try this for December and possibly even pay full whack for January.

As it says thats not the original right card for that box, but ring them back and they will reactivate it

Tune box to sky news, It should rectify itself in next 24 hours.(Assuming this is infact the card that was matched to this box when you were sky customer) When a card misses keep alive signal the default message is this is the wrong card for this set top box. When it gets the active signal all should be good.

I installed oscam on the dreambox and the card kicked in for a minute clearing the setanta package and then went blank. Messed about with configs but no luck.

Stuck in back in the sky box to see if it updates. If I contact sky, do I not need a sub with them for the reactiviation of card?

Does it clear the Setanta channels in the Skybox? If not, get them to resend the activation signal and leave in the Skybox - the channels will come on despite the message.

Setanta not clearing in Sky box, LFC channel is working, it wasn't last night , so I am thinking now its the wrong card for the box. I rang Sky, they fogged me off saying as I wasn't a Sky customer so it wasn't their problem. Going to give Setanta a bell now to see what they say.

Rang Setanta there and got sorted. Now its clearing, can I just use it in the dreambox or does it have to stay in the sky box for a period of time?

Once they're clearing you're good to go.

Does it have to be the card that was matched to the box originally I bought the box secondhand there was no card. If I can get my hands on a card will it work for Setanta.
This is probably a stupid question but how would you know if an unsubscribed Irish card is active or not since it gives no channels.

No..As long as the card is paired to the box and you have an active subscription.

The box I have is not the one I got from Sky..I just bought a HD + box and got the card paired..

I signed up for Setanta earlier and it's working away. It was on in seconds.

you do not need to have a SKY SUBSCRIPTION!

you need to ring setanta and get them to send you a card. when the card arrives contact setanta and they will pair the box and card and you are up and running.

This is what I did and I have been up and running since August!

Sorry for been so stupid I have a sky box used for free to air channels only no subscription. If I was to get my hands on a sky card that hasn't been used in a long time what would I need to do to get the Setanta deal.

that won't work. as that card belongs to another box somewhere!

as I said ring setanta and order a card and follow the steps above!

Did the channels clear in the dreambox? I stuck my card into my Ariva and the channels did not clear. Stuck it back in Sky HD box and they cleared.

Yeah, they cleared no bother with Oscam installed, have the Ariva as well, works in that as well.

Just thought of this, not sure if it makes a difference or not but my card updated in an old Pace box after Setanta paired it.

I am using a Dreambox clone on open pli 4.0. Downloaded oscam off the open pli panel. Worth noting I didnt have to change any of the configs to make it clear the channels on dreambox. I have since edited a little bit for own use.

u know before i seen this, i was thinking of signing up for the month, for the footy over xmas, was going to offer them 12.99 as i know they do deals at that price,

nice to see them offering it for €1.

Had the €1 deal until today and I called this morning to cancel. Was offered half price for 3 months!! If it was for 6 months I might have said yes but turned it down. By the time I came back into the room the channels were gone!!!

I got this 1 month subscription for when i was in mayo during christmas where we have an active sky account and dish etc.

Now I'm back in Dublin and no one really watches sky at my family home in mayo, kind of going to waste..

My question is, can I keep the subscription going and use the sky box and card in my house in Dublin? We currently have UPC though in Dublin house and no satellite dish, so basically does the sky box have to be connected to a satellite dish?

Sent the email on NYEve, got an auto-response. Channels were still open this morning so I went to make a cup of tea before ringing. When I returned with said cup of tea in hand the channels were gone and I'd received an email confirming cancellation!
