minecraft multiplayer help

i just downloaded minecraft last night in the pc. its a big change from playing the xbox version for so long. a few questions i have that confuses me is all the mod packs and versions. can i join a bukkit or ftb server with my standard version of minecraft? i have 1.7.2. my understanding of it is i can join those servers…

a few questions i have that confuses me is all the mod packs and versions. can i join a bukkit or ftb server with my standard version of minecraft? i have 1.7.2. my understanding of it is i can join those servers but wont be able to see/ takr advantage of the mods the other users use?

im sure i'll have it all figured out in a few weeks, im still comming to terms with actually having to craft items, the xbox edition had me lazy and spoilt.

You need you game modded. FTB launcher will do most of the hard work for you.
