Good idea, bad idea?

So, was in town last week havin a few pints before I went home(admittedly after a few already) anyway, a really sweet looking girl caught my eye(i think we caught each other's eyes a few times) but being a shy fcuker I couldnt get the nerve up to approach her so i got a beer mat and wrote..... (cringing writing this) '' hi my name is x, you're beautiful, took my breath away, dinner? And me number.......and promptly left said pub, dropping it on ger table as I left.

Noq, sge did text me, (with a pic of the beer mat as well), i text back ah yeah was me, thought id chance it etc, she very brave of me, never happened.... Was nice etc

Just wondering folks, does this come off as weird or wha'! Bit miffed meself, she said she'd give us a shout if she's there tgis week, how to play it?!?

I don't understand what the problem is? Are you bothered that she actually seems to be taking you up on your offer? (and fair play for actually doing it btw)

how to play it? how about actually going for that dinner, or some kind of date and finding more out about each other.

I dunno really tbh, just probably afraid of meeting her and having to make small talk if it goes tits up(i did drop the note and go, sight unseen after all) nothing ventured nothing gained i suppose....

Well you'll never know if you don't try.
Could be the start of something, could be completely pointless and worst case scenario is that you put yourself out there and made an attempt.

Fair play to you either way, I don't think I'd ever have the cojones to do something like that.

Yeah it was a great idea, I'd love if that happened to me. Just go on the date, don't think about it too much beforehand.

Hi people thanks for all the positive feedback, heading back to the same pub. (not to meet tge girl, just havin a pint) but is a text a good idea to see if she'll come in tomorrow or not?

try and arrange to meet her for a date or something (not necessarily at the pub) - i always think even if it doesnt work out or last at least you've had a nice night

Brilliant idea on the beer mat and an effective message too. Why not follow through on the dinner offer? Don't go overboard with the location but somewhere that you can talk and get to know each other a bit.

Muppetry? Constructive advice? Had you not prematurely jumped the gun, you would have seen that my post was a veiled complement to the OP's idea, as other posters have more obviously done. Surely an initial warning would have sufficed if you were unsure? At least then I could have explained myself.
