Should I bother start driving?!

Ok basically I'm 17 doing my driving lessons and I'm wondering when I pass my test is it worth it for me to get on the road. I have permission to use a car, 04 Clio from my grandad but I don't know if I can afford to get it insured for myself. How much would it cost for me to get insured when I'm 18? And what do people me when they say ''sure get insured On your grandads'' is this cheaper? Any help would be great!

You can be insured as a named driver. It's cheaper than insurance in your own name but still means you are covered. When you can afford it get insurance in your own name.

My advice would be to start as soon as you can. More often than not people who start later need more lessons to pass than someone your age. I passed at 17. Go for it. Even if you don't have a car you still have your licence!!

Honestly, my advice is get it done soon as possible.

You might never drive, but the reason I did both my theory test and full test were less to do with wanting the license and more to do with 'preventative' measures. I got my Learner permit issued, literally, one day before the 12 lesson EDT nonsense came it.

I rushed into my full license test because I dread the thoughts of R plates or N plates or whatever they are.

The longer you leave it, the more nonsense and hoops there'll be that will need to be jumped through. Get it now before you need more mandatory lessons and N plates for 2 years and a re-test every 10 years and whatever else they dream up in the coming years.
