house insurance for house under construction for mortgage..Help!!

    hi. i am building a house direct labour. i got as far as 1st fixings using savings etc and now am getting amortgage to do the rest. i need house insurance to get the mortgage...they have sent me out a form looking for info from my ' Building contractor' with regards to his public liability, employers liability and 'contractors risks'!! so has anyone else got insurance for a house under construction? as i am not sure if, because i dont have a contractor, that i have to go and find out the public liability info etc from each of the trade men working in the house !!! and it wants each policy number, renewal date, limit of indemnity!!! i cant be the first person with this issue! Help please!

    You are the building contractor !
    Ring a few insruance companies and ask for "insurance under the course of construction." It will tick all the boxes but ain't cheap..... can't remember exactly what i paid but I think it was something like €1500

    just recently got this insurance too. found alot of companies would not deal with us as we'd already started the blockwork. we got 18 month cover for €1400
