hi whats the cheapest credit card for making small purchases approx 50E a few times a year:)

    i currently use the 3v but it's a pain

you have to pay the commision upfront every time and then you get stung for a euro off the value of the voucher

is the postfx card any good or that just for travel...i couldn't quite understand it??

    thanks:)

I have a Moneybookers (Skrill) prepaid credit card and love it.

You sign up online, send copies of ID and proof of address. And you get a card. Its €10 for the year.

Its great cause other prepaid credit cards, eg 3V and there's a charge on topup. I think O2 has a card too for €9.99 and there's charges on topping up. I think it depends on how much you top up by. There's a €1 fee for topping up by €20. There's even €2.50 stamp duty.

But anyway for €10 a year, I think the moneybookers (skrill) card is great. Especially if you use it alot. There's no stamp duty. Its just €10 a year.

You can topup instantly by any amount you want. It used to be free to topup using your laser card. But they've done away with laser cards. You can top up with your visa debit but there's a 1.9% fee. Its not much anyway.

You can also do a bank transfer and thats free to upload money to the card.

    Anyway I think its great.

The Skrill card is probably the cheapest to use.
Ther's a good summary of charges for various Irish prepaid cards here ..

Would you not talk to your bank about a visa debit card account? Same as visa but you can only spend what's in the account....phew!

Doesn't provide the buyer protection that a credit card has.

Huh... will have to talk my my bank who have been telling me porkies.

I was led to believe that it had the same level of protection as VISA

Visa debit cards have the same protection as credit cards in Ireland.
(There is a bit more protection with credit cards in the UK - which many people assume also applies here).

I'm looking for the cheapest cc where you topup with cash at a retail outlet (like the 3v)

32-50 for a 30 euro voucher seems steep
then they take another Euro off your 30 leaving you with 29 to spend online

I'm only spending a few hundred a year online
