    hi,

my nissan micra was stolen last week from my house, i have just received the claim information from my insurance company and it is asking me for my nct cert and my vehicle logbook. now i know this is stupid but i think the log book was in the glove compartment along with the nct cert from doing my net test last month.

Does any one know what to do in this case? I am under a lot of pressure without having a car and am working from 9 till 6 every day so i can't go to tax office or anything like that…

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks

btw if anyone sees 05D36070 micra driving around let me know!

    Hello,
I'm only 14 but your best bet would probably be to go to the guards, they more than likley can track where the vehicle was last seen.

    -CCTV
    -Phone or anything trackable

This is all I can really say at the moment, I'll look around online and try to find something, but your best bet would be to go to the guards, Hope it helps :)

Ring your insurance company. They should be able to advise best.

I had a car stolen many years ago and the next day it was returned to some open fields behind where I lived. I recovered the car, complete with damage, vandalised interior, burnt out clutch etc. etc. Then, when going through the car, I found a receipt for petrol, bought the previous night, when the car was stolen. I contacted the garage and they said they had cctv footage from the same night and something might be on it. They suggested that I contact the guards for them to follow it up, as they wouldn't/couldn't release footage to me.

I did this, immediately and the response from the guards was.......zero, zilch, nada, diddly squat, etc. etc. Repeatedly asking for action didn't help as they had "a lack of manpower". Yes, I suspect they were all busy handing out parking fines, no tax fines, etc. etc.

But contact them anyway, if only to register the theft.

Log book can be reissued, download form here and send to Shannon, I thinks its 12 euro
    https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/pdf/RF134_en.pdf

    For NCT replacement see here:
    http://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Your-Vehicle/Your-Vehicle-/NCT/NCT-Certificate/

When you get them, send to your insurance company, let them know there will be a delay because of them being in the car when stolen.

I'm sure ringing the guards was the first thing he done anyway as the insurance company i'd presume would need a Garda report.

Get a replacement reg cert (log book) from Shannon , your old one has been mislaid,it happens a lot, fill form in Garda station , it'll take about a week.

I'm in a similar position. My car was stolen 2weeks ago in the Dublin area. (08WH2570 Golf). Delighted that you got your car back. Did they get the idiots who took it?

no actually the opposite, a dealer bought it and sold it on the someone who put 4 new tyres on it and serviced it and changed all the filters.

the number -plates where changed at some point and the guy went to nct the car and the chassis numbers didn't match so somehow they figured out it was my car.

it all sounds very odd but i have my car back in better condition then when it was stolen!

the garda says they have a very definite lead to whoever stole it and on the road beside me they caught someone walking around with a fishing rod with a magnet on it so hope the person gets caught!

Can you find out who stole it?

My car could do with a bit if work, nothing major just a service would be nice.

that has to be the good news wnding of the year! car gets robbed, turns up a few weeks later, fully serviced, 4 new tyres and NCT'd, that's somewhat a great result for the OP.

on the other hand it sounds like quite a few people have had their fingers and wallets burnt by this car during the past while.

I feel sorry for the chap that done the bit of work for the test, thinking he had a straight car!

Cracking story! If it was me Id probably be giving the poor gob****e who bought it the price of the tires and service.

Aye. I'd also wonder how many cars said dealer got from the original thief?

Yeah I suppose it's the dealer that will have to bare the brunt of this!

If so it would be hard to have any sympathy for him as he didn't take much care to ensure the seller truly owned the car.

the garda from cork that i was speaking too said the guy who bought the car sells cars on himself and he should have known better, the guard said he has never seen a log book look so fake before
